Hi, I’m Josh!

Graphic designer, Guinness drinker, creative thinker, and type lover with an eye for detail.

I have just completed my BA(Hons) in Graphic Design at Arts University Bournemouth for which I achieved a First Class Honours. During my time there I got to experience working on live briefs with studios such as London based Forpeople, as well as competition briefs such as Creative Conscience for which I won a Highly Commended award.

Recently I had the opportunity to work on a self-initiated brief with the aim of helping people who suffer from sight loss. This is something that has had a big impact on my life as my dad is blind and therefore being able to utilise my design skills in order to help his (and many others) daily lives was extremely rewarding. As a result I created an app called Colour Memories that enables partially sighted people to better understand the colour of objects in the world around them. I have the hope of making this fully and releasing it onto the AppStore in the near future.

I enjoy working both physically and digitally, producing something that I can touch and feel is rewarding but am also excited about a digital future and have had fun learning HTML and CSS skills for web development as well as Swift for mobile apps.

Outside of uni, I have a growing passion in other creative areas that support me as a designer. I enjoy taking 35mm film photography and the challenge of a limited number of shots, forcing me to really consider the composition and framing. I also have skills in technical drawing and experimenting with paper engineering, learning flip books and how to create pull tabs.

As I have now finished my degree I am excited to start working as soon as possible, being able to learn new design skills whilst working on projects I am interested in. I would offer core graphic design skills in type and layout as well as strong ideation and scamping. I am a good collaborator and hungry to learn new things (currently learning German).
